If your cart has six 6V batteries under the seat a 1994–2009 EZGO TXT, a pre-1995 Club Car DS, or an older Yamaha G-series it’s a 36V cart, and it needs a 36V lithium pack. You cannot drop a 48V pack in without replacing the controller, solenoid and usually the motor. How to Read That Table
Range on a 36V cart
A 36V 100Ah pack holds about 3.84 kWh, of which roughly 3.5 kWh is usable. On a stock TXT or DS in normal use (around 200–250 Wh per mile) that’s 14–17 miles; on flat ground with a light load, 20 or more. That’s comparable to a healthy set of six 6V lead-acid batteries and noticeably better than a tired one, because lithium can be run to 90% depth where lead-acid should stop at 50%. BMS continuous current
Because a 36V system runs at lower voltage, it draws more current than a 48V cart for the same power which makes the BMS rating slightly more important here, not less. A stock 36V TXT with a PDS controller is comfortable on 200A. A lifted 36V cart on big tires, or one with an upgraded controller, is where the Cloudenergy’s 250A rating earns its keep. If the cart cuts out on hills after the swap, the BMS limit is the first thing to check.
The charger plug
Most 36V carts on the road are EZGO TXTs, and they use the flat Powerwise “D” plug unique to 36V EZGOs. Pre-1995 Club Car DS carts use the three-blade crowfoot; older Yamahas use a 2-pin connector. A bundled charger with the wrong plug isn’t useless, but you’ll need an adapter. Check the listing names your cart, or buy a charger separately.
Should you go to 48V instead?
Only if you want more speed and torque badly enough to also buy a 48V controller, solenoid and (usually) motor $600–$1,500 on top of the battery. For most owners who just want lithium’s weight saving, maintenance-free running and longer life, staying at 36V is the sensible call.
