“Fits Club Car, EZGO and Yamaha” appears on every lithium golf cart battery listing, and it is true often enough to be dangerous. A single lithium pack replaces six or four lead-acid batteries, so it is almost always shorter and narrower than the space it goes into; the dimension that bites is height, and the one nobody measures is the tray’s narrowest point. This chart lists the published dimensions and weights of the packs people actually buy, the lead-acid group sizes your tray was built around, and a five-minute way to measure your own cart before ordering.

Golf cart battery size chart, short version: A 48V 100Ah to 105Ah lithium golf cart battery is about 18 to 21 inches long, 10.5 to 13.5 inches wide and 8.7 to 9.8 inches tall, and weighs 82 to 103 lb. A 48V 150Ah pack is about 22 x 12 x 11 inches and 139 lb, and a 36V 105Ah pack about 16.7 x 12.5 x 9.6 inches and 83 lb. The lead-acid set it replaces occupied roughly 26 x 14.5 inches (four 12V) or 31 x 14.5 inches (six 6V or 8V), stood about 11 inches tall and weighed 330 to 380 lb, so length and width fit nearly every cart. Check height, which must clear the seat frame, and the tray’s narrowest point between wheel wells and hold-down bolts.

Figures from each manufacturer’s product page or datasheet as of October 2026; length and width are the case, height is to the top of the case excluding terminals and cables. Budget Amazon packs (DC HOUSE, LOSSIGY, Cloudenergy, ELEFAST, OGRPHY) are built in the same 48V 100Ah format and run about 19 to 21 x 12 to 13 x 9 to 10 inches at 85 to 100 lb; confirm the listing’s figure for the exact variant, because metal and plastic versions of the same pack differ by an inch.

What Your Tray Was Built Around

Golf cart trays are sized for standard lead-acid group sizes, which makes the available space predictable even without a tape measure. Three group sizes cover nearly every cart.

Club Car DS and Precedent, EZGO TXT 36V and Yamaha G19 and G22 use six GC2 or GC8 batteries; EZGO TXT48, RXV and Yamaha G29 Drive and Drive2 use four GC12. In every case the lithium pack is smaller in length and width than the set it replaces, which is why the listings’ “fits all” claim is mostly right. The two numbers that are not in the pack’s favour are height, where lead-acid stood about 11 inches to the top of the case and about 12 with posts and cables, and the tray’s shape, which is rarely a clean rectangle.

Measure Your Tray in Five Minutes

  1. Length and width at the narrowest point. Not the overall tray: measure between the wheel wells, the hold-down bolts, the frame rails and any speaker box or cooler bracket that intrudes. On a Club Car DS the H-frame tray has a centre rail; on a TXT the tray narrows toward the rear.
  2. Height from the tray floor to the lowest point of the seat frame or seat pan, with the seat down. Subtract an inch for cables and the pack’s terminals. This is the number that kills 150Ah packs on some carts.
  3. Where the cables will run. A single pack has two terminals in one place; the main positive and negative cables may need to be longer or shorter than the ones that reached six batteries.
  4. Where the hold-down will anchor. The pack weighs a quarter of what the old set did and will slide if it is only sitting in the tray; look for the existing hold-down bolt holes or a flat area for a bracket.
  5. Plastic or metal tray. EZGO RXV carts came with either, and the plastic one is shallower; some packs are listed for the metal tray only.

Height: the Dimension That Bites

Every 100Ah to 105Ah pack in the chart is under 10 inches tall and clears the seat on every common cart. The 150Ah packs are a different story: at about 11 inches they are taller than a lead-acid case, and on carts with a low seat pan, which includes older Yamaha G-series carts, many TXTs with aftermarket seats and anything with a flip-seat kit that lowered the frame, they contact the seat or need the pack moved to one side of the tray where the frame is higher. The Bolt MINI and THIN packs are tall for their footprint for the same reason in reverse: they are designed for trays that are short on length or width, and they use height to make up the volume. The range guide covers whether a 150Ah pack is worth the fitting trouble for your mileage.

Weight: What Losing 250 lb Changes

Bar chart of golf cart battery pack weights: six 8V lead-acid about 380 lb, six 6V about 370 lb, four 12V about 330 lb, versus lithium packs from 82 to 139 lb
A lithium conversion removes 200 to 300 lb from the back of the cart.

A 48V lead-acid set weighs 330 to 380 lb; the lithium pack that replaces it weighs 82 to 139 lb. That is 200 to 300 lb off the rear axle, which is good for range and acceleration and changes a few things owners don’t expect. The cart sits higher at the back and rides harder until the springs settle. Rear traction on wet grass or a steep gravel drive is reduced, because the weight that pressed the drive wheels down is gone; carts that climb steep, loose hills sometimes get a counterweight plate, which several brands sell for exactly this reason. Braking is easier. And the pack itself must be held down properly, because 100 lb in a tray sized for 380 lb has room to move; the conversion guide covers brackets and straps.

Which Size for Which Cart

  • Club Car DS and Precedent, EZGO TXT48, RXV with the metal tray, Yamaha G29 and Drive2: any 100Ah to 105Ah pack fits without drama, and 150Ah fits with the height check. See the 48V comparison.
  • EZGO TXT 36V, Club Car DS 36V, Yamaha G16 and older: the 36V packs are shorter (the Vatrer 36V is under 17 inches long) and fit the six-GC2 tray easily. See the 36V comparison.
  • Tight or oddly shaped trays (speaker boxes, DS H-frame, RXV plastic tray): a narrow pack like the LiTime at 10.6 inches wide or the Bolt THIN at 8.4 inches wide, or a short one like the Bolt MINI at 12.8 inches long.
  • Six-seaters and lifted carts wanting 150Ah: measure height first; if it fails, two 100Ah packs in parallel side by side are often shorter than one 150Ah and give more capacity. One 150Ah vs two 100Ah compared.
  • 72V carts: a different format entirely; the 72V guide has the packs and their sizes.

Model-by-model tray notes, including the Club Car OBC and the EZGO plug differences, are in the fitment guide. A smaller, lighter pack also needs securing in all that spare space: lithium golf cart battery hold-down brackets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are lithium golf cart batteries the same size as lead-acid?

No. One lithium pack replaces four or six lead-acid batteries and is much smaller than the set: about 20 x 12 x 9.5 inches against a 26 to 31 inch by 14.5 inch footprint. Some packs are taller than a single lead-acid battery, which is where fit problems come from.

How much does a lithium golf cart battery weigh?

82 to 103 lb for a 48V 100Ah to 105Ah pack, 83 lb for a 36V 105Ah pack, and about 139 lb for a 48V 150Ah pack, against 330 to 380 lb for the lead-acid set. Battery-by-battery figures and what the saving changes are in how much golf cart batteries weigh. For the electrical side, what each pack should read full and empty is in the golf cart battery voltage chart.

Do I need a counterweight after converting to lithium?

Most owners don’t. Carts that climb steep loose hills or carry heavy loads on the front sometimes lose rear traction after losing 250 lb from the back, and a counterweight plate restores it. Drive it first; add weight only if the rear wheels spin where they didn’t before.

Will a 48V 150Ah lithium battery fit my cart?

In length and width, yes, on nearly every 48V cart. In height, measure from the tray floor to the seat frame: the pack is about 11 inches tall and needs an inch above that for terminals. Club Car Precedent, EZGO RXV and TXT48 generally clear; older Yamahas and carts with lowered seats often don’t.

Can I fit two lithium packs in the tray?

Often, since two 100Ah packs side by side are about 20 x 25 inches, within the six-battery footprint. Both packs must be the same model and age and be wired in parallel correctly; the hills and lifted carts guide covers when that beats one 150Ah pack, and parallel wiring and matching rules covers how to do it.

What are the EZGO TXT battery tray dimensions?

The TXT tray is built around its lead-acid set: six GC2 batteries on a 36V TXT, a footprint of about 31 x 14.5 inches, and four GC12 batteries on a TXT48, about 26 x 14.5 inches, with the batteries standing about 11 inches tall (about 12 with posts and cables). The usable space is smaller than those figures, because the TXT tray narrows toward the rear, so measure at the narrowest point and from the tray floor to the seat frame before ordering. Any 48V 100Ah to 105Ah pack in the chart fits a TXT48, and the 36V packs fit the six-battery tray easily.

Next Steps

Measure the tray, then pick the pack from the all-voltage buyer’s guide, and match the charger plug using charger plug types. If the tray is unusual, the fitment guide has model-specific notes.
